Mother's Day--Sonoma County Style!

Does Mother’s Day give you visions of flowers, chocolate, yummy food and perhaps a nice glass of wine?

Me, too! And I have good news. You don’t have to leave Sonoma County to enjoy these delightful Mother’s Day treats. So, if you are searching for a special Mother’s Day surprise, you don’t have to look any further than your own backyard.

MOM LOVES FLOWERS

Does Mom love flowers? Think outside of “floral delivery box” and give her an experience instead. Bees and Blooms at the foot of Taylor Mountain Park is a flower enthusiast’s dream. Wander through the lavender labyrinth and visit the honeybees in action! Open for a special Mother’s Day event May 8-9, you can bring a picnic and enjoy a special outing with Mom.

Perhaps Mom would enjoy a more hands-on experience by attending a Floral Workshop at Rodney Strong Vineyard. A former instructor from Sequoia National Floral in Santa Rosa will teach aspiring floral arrangers how to artfully create their own masterpieces! All supplies included in the ticket price. Register here.

MOM LOVES CHOCOLATE

When someone mentions Sonoma Valley, most people think wine, but after visiting a few local chocolate shops, that might change! If your Mom is a chocolate lover (and let’s be honest, whose isn’t?) perhaps a visit to a local chocolatier is in order. If you want to make it truly decadent, consider pairing it with one of those wines that Sonoma Valley is famous for!

Wine Country Chocolates in Sonoma Plaza prides itself on its rich truffles and dark chocolate. And with a tagline of “Chocolate Uncorked” it’s obviously a local shop. Undecided whether to choose handmade chocolates, fresh fudge or a delightful chocolate gelato? Let Mom enjoy it all at The Chocolate Cow in Sonoma’s Mercado Shopping Plaza.

MOM LOVES A WINERY BRUNCH

Sonoma County wineries pull out all the stops for Moms. If you are considering something a little bit different this year, check out West Wines. They are offering a stroll through the vineyards and wine tasting with guided tours of the winery. Consider ordering a boxed lunch or a charcutiere tray.

Looking for fun for the whole crew? Larson Family Winery, a rodeo ranch-turned winery fits the fill. Farm animals, bocce ball and a picnic area for a casual meal. Or head next door to Kivelstadt Cellars for brunch. It’s a perfect outing for Mom and the whole family.

Regardless of your choice for a Mother’s Day celebration, Sonoma County has you covered. Happy Mother’s Day!
